Photos for my etsy site

I haven’t had much to post lately, but I made a few new items for my Etsy store Peppermint Emporium .
I had Ben take some product photos last night so I’ll show some of the pics.
The dress and shoes are vintage.

Check my store out for more jewelry and fun stuff!

It’s much shinier in real life. I couldn’t really get a good picture of it glistening.

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a freak weekend, if only it could be a little longer.

For this weekends DIY I made a necklace. I kinda stumbled onto this one. I was outside on my patio looking at the stones around the landscaping when I found a particularly sparkly crystal-like one and got the idea to make something with it. I modpodged gold leaf onto the back after I cleaned the dirt off with water and a toothbrush. Actually I would recommend gold paint to liquid gold leaf instead but I didn’t have any.

I then wrapped it in gold wire and put it on a chain. I like the way it looks but I think I might add some beads or charms later. It’s a start. I’d like to find different rocks to try it with also.

Let me know what found objects you have made into jewelry!

I need some help deciding!

Hey everyone! Happy Thursday, it’s most the weekend and I’m so excited! I have a wedding to go to in Indianapolis so it’ll be one of those busy in the car most of the time weekends.

So I recently did an at home try on, ok maybe two at home try ons from Rivet & Sway. I don’t know if you’ve heard of them, but they make prescription glasses and sunglasses designed especially for women with smaller faces. I’ve always had trouble getting my glasses to stay up and then you get the dreaded headache; same as the headband headache. Also they let you try on five different frames at home for free which is what got me in this dilemma.

I need new glasses but can’t decide which pair to pick so I am in need of some advice. So what do you think?

I’m thinking of picking one of these two.

Agh! To many choices! Let me know what you think. Also check Rivet & Sway out. They have the cutest glasses around.

DIY Hummingbird Feeder

20140511-200212.jpg 20140511-200158.jpg 20140511-200134.jpgI’m so excited for warm weather finally and cannot wait to decorate my patio since this is the first summer we have had one in about 4 years.  I want it as nature friendly as possible. (partly because I like to watch my cats freak out at birds and other animals!)  I made this hummingbird feeder very easily with just a red bottle, copper colored wire and a special hummingbird feeder that I bought off of amazon.  The color of the bottle doesn’t have to be red but I know they are attracted to red so I figured it wouldn’t hurt.  I bought my bottle from Pier One.  I just wrapped the wire around the bottle, making sure it was secure and made a loop at the top to hang it from.

I also have a recipe to make your own nectar as well.

1 cup sugar

4 cups water

boil water and sugar until melted.  Cool and fill the feeder.  You can store the rest in an empty container.

I haven’t seen any hummingbirds yet but I think it’s a little early in the year for them to migrate north yet.  I can’t wait to see them!

Cinnamon popcorn

20140511-200114.jpg

I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day weekend! I made sure I was outside as much as possible. I bought a new bike so now I can finally go on rides. We also went out exploring, shopping and just enjoyed the 80 degree weather. Even the cats are loving it. (mostly because of all the birds on the patio)

I thought for its week I’d post a recipe. We’ll not really a recipe it’s just how I like to make popcorn. We’ve been on a big popcorn kick here lately and I of course have a huge sweet tooth so I like to sweeten mine. We pop our own which is way healthier and just as fast as the microwave kind. It’s cheaper and has less nasty chemicals too.

We pop it over the stove in coconut oil which tastes great! I then drizzle mine with agave syrup and coat it with cinnamon. I mix it up and then its ready to enjoy. It’s so good and not that bad for you. I also use Trader Joe’s pumpkin spice sometimes too if you like pumpkin.

Enjoy and let me know how you like your popcorn!

Stuff I Made: A Skirt

Image

I haven’t really had much time to work on anything new lately and was sick all of last weekend, (boo!) but I’m feeling much better now have lots of new projects planned!  I thought I’d show off this skirt I made a few years ago from old kitchen curtains.  I found the curtains at an antique store I used to frequent when I lived in Fort Wayne.  I loved how kitschy they were but didn’t have any windows they would fit on and they didn’t really match my decor so I made them into a skirt.   Let me know if you’ve ever made anything found into something wearable, I’d love to see your projects.  Have a great rest of the weekend and hopefully the weather stays nice for everyone!
